Well here's my thought: The article mentions another study produces opposite results. And I think both are true. With the way the world is going, I we're going to see a greater dichotomy. You'll have parents who love being parents. And you'll have parents who hate being parents and therefore ruin their kids. I do not believe a study can tell me it does one thing or the other. If the parent's heart isn't in the right place, then no, I won't 'statistically' promise them happiness.
Children do not automatically bring happiness--sorry. The caregiver's respect, awareness, and attitude towards them brings happiness.
Today is the 21st anniversary of my parents: Queen Lita Little and King Kevin J Giddins. The older I get, the more I am truly touched and astounded by the little ways they chose to raise my siblings and me. They look at us and see God's heirs.
Thank you Mom and Dad for sticking with it. I know we've given you a taste of hell, but thanks for creating joy regardless.
